Course Description

For tax pros, it's all about efficiency. You’ve got great tax software in place to help get those tax returns done. You’ve notified clients of your deadlines. You are READY! But then clients drag their heels, you have to chase them for documents, and then they send them in using so many different methods that you go crazy. You try and ensure they are all in the right place and have various manual methods for making sure they are complete before you start actually inputting the tax return.

But then it's a lot of “searching, opening, and closing”—over and over again.

It's vital you have a crystal-clear process that ensures you get the right documents from clients, that they are sent securely and on a timely basis, and that you can easily locate, summarize and annotate them so your tax staff can input them efficiently. It's also vital that you have a way to process each document AS IT COMES IN AND ONLY TOUCH EACH DOCUMENT ONCE so you can effectively flatten the tax season by pushing more of the work to earlier in the season.

This technical webinar will demonstrate how to use a client-facing communication tool like Liscio, along with common software you already own (i.e., Google Suite or MS 365 Suite) to create an incredibly efficient document gathering, summarization, and annotating “engine” that will pay off in terms of immediate time savings now and for years to come.

Learning Objectives:

  • Determine a client-friendly and affordable way to get 1040 documents securely and on time

  • Recall an easy-to-implement process for gathering, tracking, and summarizing client 1040 documents using the Microsoft 365 Suite

  • Evaluate how to easily annotate documents as they come in, including removing unnecessary or extraneous information before adding to the summary work paper

  • Recognize how to set yourself up for a successful tax season next year with a side-by-side annotated source document work paper for each client

  • Identify how to flatten tax season by getting client documents earlier, processing them as they come in, and touching every document once and only once
